थँक्सगिव्हिंग असते काय? थँक्सगिव्हिंग म्हणजे मुळात धन्यवाद देणे. जेव्हा १६ व्य शतकात लोक युरोप सोडून अमेरिकेत स्थायिक होण्यासाठी आले. त्या लोकांना अर्ली सेटलर्स किंवा पिलग्रिम्स असेही म्हणतात. त्यांच्याकडे काहीही नव्हते. त्यांनी मूळ राहणाऱ्या लोकांच्या ( त्यांना अमेरिकन इंडियन पण म्हणतात) च्या मदतीने बियाणे लागवड केली , अन्न उत्पादन केले आणि कापणी झाल्यावर आलेल्या अन्नाबद्दल धन्यवाद दिले. मूळच्या लोकनेबरोबर मजवानी केली . हा मुख्यतः अमेरिका खंडाचा सण, उत्तर अमेरिकेत अमेरिका आणि कॅनडा साजरा करतात , तसेच दक्षिण अमेरिकेहा ब्राझील आणि अजून काही देश साजरे करतत असले तरी प्रत्येक देश वागल्या दिवशी साजरा करतो जसे कॅनडात थँक्स गिविंग ऑक्टोबर च्या दुसरया सोमवारी होतो, इथं अमेरिकेत तो नोव्हेंबरच्या ४त्या गुरुवारी साजरा होतो.
